There’s bigger fish in the sea.
Friday, December 9, 2005Went to Malaysia yesterday for a day. Shopped of course! It’s the Malaysia Year End Sale (Y.E.S. for short). I went for a semi makeover, highlights in my hair, bought a couple of new clothes. Stuff’s so cheap over there but it’s even cheaper in Manila.
First day of work at Underwater World, Sentosa. Went pretty well. As I have expected, I was assigned in the ‘traffic’ position AKA the marketing position. There are two positions, the photoshoot area called the traffic area and the counter where the customers print their pictures. I didn’t particularly like the counter area cuz I found it kinda confusing. Customers can’t make up their minds about which pictures to choose and which offer package to take. Whereareas, at the traffic position all I had to do was encourage tourists to take pictures. I’m better at the talking AKA ’sales pitch’ side.
I have a slight advantage cuz I can speak Tagalog very well and Filipino tourists like it when I speak to them in our native tongue. There was this Filipino lady who was so shocked to hear me speak in Tagalog. She thought I was Korean. Hahaha. And there’s another one who said to her husband, ‘Ang galing, marunong mag-Tagalog yung intsek.’ (Wow, that Chinese girl knows how to speak Tagalog.) It was just hilarious.
Siloso Beach is right in front of Underwater World. ZoukOut will be at Siloso Beach. Sigh…I still can’t get over the fact that I’m not going. I was hoping it’ll be a yearly practice to go. But not many of my friends are going as well so I don’t feel that bad.
