Filipino as can be.
Sunday, December 25, 2005 We had a Christmas Eve party at one of my aunt’s house. It was also a Housewarming Party cuz they just bought a house of their own. The house is pretty big. Hands up to them for getting the house done in such a short time (they moved in only a week ago).
We celebrated Christmas the Filipino way. As usual, food was in excess (no complains though, we all had something to bring back home with us), there was music, lots of phototaking and lots of gifts. There were bags loads of gifts by the Christmas tree.
I would have given everything (well maybe not everything..haha) to be back home in the Philippines. Christmas and New Year are best spent with family at home. But I wasn’t really feeling all that lonely about not being able to be back home. The company here is great too.
But like I said countless times before, it’s still different being back home.
Oh, did I mention I am sick? I had slight fever last night as well as today. Would have gone to see a doctor but the clinics near my house were all closed. I didn’t want to check myself in the hospital on Christmas Day. So Panadol, Dolfenal and Erythrocin kept me company on Christmas Day. Without them, my head would be too clogged to even open presents.
This year, most of gifts were bags. Either they called my mom to ask what I would like to get or they just know me so well! Got a few $$ as well. The good thing about receiving cash is that you can do anything you want with it. But I don’t mind the gifts too. There’s the joy and excitement in ripping apart all the Christmas wrapper.
Just a thought. I don’t get why they use X’mas to abbreviate Christmas when you don’t pronounce ‘Christ’ as ‘Ex’ at all. I don’t like using the short form. The respect is gone.
