Does this mean I’m old?

Oh no, it’s happening!! I’M TOO OLD FOR ‘THE CAGE’!!
OMG. I never thought this would happen.
I NEVER THOUGHT I’D OUTGROW SMOOVE!!
5 hours before going to MOS
I was in school for the MDIS Student Council Pioneer Bash. I finally set foot in school after my last exam around two months ago. I hate my campus, it’s all the way to ulu Queenstown and it’s ridiculously far from my house. BUT! It’s not like I’m complaining that much, after making a couple of trips down to NTU for meetings, everywhere else feels so damn near compared.
Anyway, It was the handover ceremony/ student council bash/ 1st year anniversary, the dress code was formal and attendance was compulsory (but that didn’t stop a couple of people from NOT turning up, sigh). I wore a tiny black dress and felt all glammed up cuz everyone else at the bash made the effort to dress up and look nice. It really did feel like prom, with all the gold and black decorations and the shiny table cloths, which I loved by the way.
As most handover ceremonies go, this one was not too different, current president gave a speech and the newly elected president gave a speech and all the important people gave a speech and some people teared up during the speech and everyone had something to eat and everyone had a piece of that hugeass cake and everyone was saying how it all felt like promand everyone camwhored at the end of it all and all I really wanna say is,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE PIONEER BATCH OF THE MDIS STUDENT COUNCIL!!
After the ceremony, some decided to head to Holland V for some drinks while Dan, Noraini, Juliet and I headed to Clark Quay to partayyyy.
Back to MOS (Smoove)
So there we were dancing to some R&B beat… left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot, a little bit of ‘hands in the air!’, a little booty shaking and a little bit of singing the lyrics out loud with the crowd when it hit me…
I have no fuckin’ idea what this song is.
Or the song before this,
or the song before that.
I don’t know ANY of the songs the DJ was spinning!!
OMG.
It’s like I only knew two songs out of seven songs that were playing. It’s like one of those ‘OMG, do I even belong here?’ moments. Dan, Noraini, Juliet and I felt (and looked) really out of place with our black formal outfits amongst the sea of possibly underaged teenyboppers and a shocking large group of Bhangra brothers and even more surprising, Ang Mohs in their late 20s.
What the hell happened to the MOS scence?
I personally have nothing against the above mentioned social groups, just that I (and I believe the rest of my gang too) am not used to having them at MOS.
Has the Friday night MOS clubbing scene changed since the two months that I’ve been away?
Or did I just grow old?
We decided to leave Smoove and try the Main Arena. No luck, we ain’t feeling the Techno. Went to 54 for some retro music and it was like we struck gold. It was 54! We belong at 54! Yeah, we belong there together with the crazy old Ang Mohs and the aunties and the uncles!
OMG!
DOES THIS MEAN I’M OLD?
